Workshops for students and pupils in centre Aqualutra

Every year 22^nd April is the day to celebrate the Earth Day. Since this year 22^nd April was Sunday, we performed our events already earlier in the week. On 18^th April 2012 the centre in Goričko was visited by students of Ecology with Nature Conservation from University of Maribor. They wanted to learn more about our Life projects, centre Aqualutra and other activities of Lutra institute. 

On Friday 20^th April 2012 we held a workshop for pupils of 4^th and 5^th grade of primary school Gornji Petrovci. The spend their nature school in our centre, where they got to know otter, the ambassador of freshwaters, and her relatives. We took a walk to nearby stream and Mayor's pond, where we were sampling freshwater organisms. We learned how do Amphipoda swim, what kind "houses" do caddiflies have and what kind of skin does  newt have. All the time we were accompanied by RTV Slovenia camera team.   The event was filmed for TV show Slovenian Magazine.

Eco bazaar 2012

Between 19^th and 20^th April 2012 there was Eco conference, held in Gospodarsko razstavišče (Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre) and accompanied by eco bazaar. Eco conference was organized by society Planet Zemlja and Slovenian Environment Agency.  Eco conference participants had a chance to know Aquaviva project. Visitors could fill in our survey on importance of biodiversity and the problem of its decline. Also, we were presenting project STOPJEŽ - Traffic and Animals. One of the visitiors of our stand was also the president of the Republic of Slovenia, dr. Danilo Türk and recieved a badge with otter footprints in memory.

One of the aims of Aquaviva project is to raise level of awareness of the problem of biodiversity decline. Since we first have to evaluate, how well is this topic already known among Slovenians, we prepared a survey following Eurobarometer.
