End of the project on the Ljubljanica river

Zaključek projekta na LjubljaniciOn Friday, 29th Avgust 2014, on the last working day of the project Aquaviva, we organized a closing event at the end of the project on the Ljubljanica river. In addition to the colleagues and partners of the project, the event also attended the director of The Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation dr. Darij Krajčič. Project manager Marjana Hönigsfeld Adamič presented the project activities and expected results of the project. After the official part of the event, we continued with a pleasant socializing on the boat that took us along the Ljubljanica river all the way to Ljubljana moors.

Interactive models Aquaviva

Naravna in umetna struga rekeWithin the project Aquaviva two pairs of three demonstration models that represent human impact on aquatic biodiversity at the ecosystem, habitat and species level had been made. With the help of the instructions that accompany the models on notice boards and in the attached brochure, anyone can practically test, what is the capacity of water retention in preserved and modified river basins, compares the living spaces in natural and channelized a riverbed and observe the changes in the aquatic ecosystem as a result of disappearance of species or human interventions in the river and its basin. You can test the models in Technical Museum of Slovenia in Bistra and in the village hall in Gornji Petrovci.

Kayakers, rapids, water experiments and biodiversity

Sloka 2014On Friday, 13th June 2014, Lutra institute in cooperation with Canoe Federation of Slovenia, organized workshops for students of elementary schools from Ljubljana. Workshops took place in Tacen, where Second World Cup race in kayaking-canoeing was held.
