Kayakers, rapids, water experiments and biodiversity

On Friday, 13th June 2014, Lutra institute in cooperation with Canoe Federation of Slovenia, organized workshops for students of elementary schools from Ljubljana. Workshops took place in Tacen, where Second World Cup race in kayaking-canoeing was held.
The purpose of workshops was to educate about the importance of conservation of clean water and its inhabitants. Pupils were presented the biodiversity of our waters from dragonflies larvae all the way to the otter. Through water experiments also realized, how pollution changes the characteristics of water, which is no longer suitable for living organisms. Workshops were attended by around 250 pupils from 1st to 8th grade. Photos from the event can be seen in the gallery.
Workshops were, as a part of the project “Povodni mož v šoli, co-financed by the City of Ljubljana.
