Presentation of otter, beaver, signal crayfish and zebra mussel to young kayakers, camping in Bohinj

Aquaviva na taboru mladih kajakašev v Bohinju On Thursday, 24th July 2014, we visited young kayakers' camp in Bohinj organized by Canoe Federation of Slovenia.

Young athletes were presented animals with whom they share the inland waters: otter, beaver, fishes, amphibians, crayfish, insect larvae, etc.. We also pointed them the problem of non-native invasive zebra mussel in Lake Bled and potential of its transmission by kayaking equipment. For the end we also performed a few water experiments to illustrate how water pollution affects aquatic organisms.

Young kayakers have proven to be great advocates of conservation of clean inland waters who will spread new knowledge among friends, acquaintances and relatives. We wish them to continue paddling in clean waters!
