Nature education day in primary school Božidar Jakec

On Wednesday, 24^th April 2013, we participated in the nature education day for 9th classes in primary school Božidar Jakec in Ljubljana. The purpose of nature education day was to acquaint the pupils with the term "biodiversity", and to present them a variety of representatives of the biodiversity in freshwater. Over the course of four hours, they realized the representatives of the four groups of animals: invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles and mammals. Pupils got to know aquatic invertebrates through making a simple dichotomous key. Members of the Societas herpetologica Slovenica - Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles of Slovenia represented amphibians and turtles. Pupils got to know the difference between anurans and caudatas, became familiar with the concept of "non-native" species and discovered the differences between rodents and carnivores.

Nature education day was co-financed by the Vity of Ljubljana.
