Curly-leaf pondweed
The curly-leaf pondweed (Potamogeton crispus) is a perennial aquatic plant with a thin, creeping rhizome. The leaves are submerged, 2-8 cm long and 1 cm wide. They have wavy, finely curled edge. The plant is found in stagnant and 1 to 3 m deep waters. It blooms from May to August. Flowers (5-10) are grouped into 1-2 cm long, gentle ear without sepals and petals. The plant likes nitrogen, alkaline, warm water, and often overgrows ponds. In the middle of consists of the curly-leaf pondweed mostly hide young fish. The plant is food for many aquatic animal species.
